I wonder if it’s too late to make a New Year resolution, or should I call a mid-year resolution. Whatever it is, I really need to, should, must abide by the traffic lights.
I don’t know why but every time it’s yellow, I feel like speeding even more than when it’s green. HAH! I know, it’s not only me, and it’s sooo blardy tempting if u noe wat I mean =P. Well, I was right behind the white line and it’s still yellow, and who would be so stupid to halt when it’s still yellow? U tell me! Especially here in my quirky country where everyone thinks that red means stop and occasionally go!, where green means foot on pedal and step to the fullest like there’s no tomorrow, and where yellow absolutely means “speed up you idiot, go, go save your ass!!”. Well, in essence, who would be that stupid to halt? Not a single one, not even a law abiding civilian like I am. Hehe =P. I mean, even if I halted, I was totally gonna get hit by the aggressive cars behind me including becak and sudako, or at least get honked and cursed till I wished I was never born, and I wouldn’t risk that.
So I was caught yesterday for breaking through the traffic lights.. again. Second time this month, and I’m deterred enough. YES, I AM. Last week, I was caught for speeding during red, which was completely stupid and idiotic, I know. Then yesterday, I was caught for an innocent right-turn while yellow. Seriously, it wasn’t intentional at all. *sob*
Not even a devilish courage to break through a red. Yellow for fuck sake, yellow!!!! And the police officer kept saying that it was just a split second till it turned into red. How would I know? I didn’t even see it, I’d passed the line! Goddamnit.
Anyway, same thing happened several months ago where miraculously I was caught for driving happily while it’s GREEN. Hahahaha.. well, I was on the left lane where cars heading left were on, whereas I was heading straight. So what’s the problem? Everybody did that. I mean, my driver did that every single day on our way to school, and not even a glimpse of the thought that I would be caught had crossed my mind. I even thought it was legal, u noe, like some kind of normal. So it’s not normal, now I know. So I was stopped, had my driving license and car documents checked, and turned out, the documents had expired for three stupidly months and no one at home knew it. It’s just so perfect for my day of being caught. Sweet. I was shocked like hell, frantic like mad, pale like frog, whatever. I even thought of feigning to cry, but I realized I wasn’t an easy weeper, so the police wouldn’t believe me anyway, and yea I paid the charge *unwillingly. Again, it’s GREEN!!
In total, I paid 20,000 rupiahs for red, 60,000 for yellow, and 250,000 for green plus documents expiry. *keemak*.
So yea, these are my mid-year resolutions. Think twice before crossing the white lines, whether it’s green, yellow, or red. Honestly, I’m a bit traumatic seeing traffic lights, especially the green light, cos it’s the most expensive. Haha =P
