Lately I spent quite some time looking at some real age-old photographs of me and my whole family, talked much about that with my grandma and it’s somewhat soothing and funny. The pictures were so ancient and strangely young. My sis and cousins with their mushroom-like hairstyles and succulent red cheeks, hehe.. they’re just adorable. Some with my bro with his super curly hair posting in a very sweet sitting position.. he’s just so cute. I saw some pictures of my aunts and uncles’ weddings today, and there was the teenage version of my pop.
My pop was still young and not married to my mom yet, maybe 20 something, a well endowed, handsomely dashing young man with his rather taciturn characteristic which pretty much melted every heart of the girls around his age at the time. Not much of a bragger herself, it’s quite funny how my grandma told me that out of all her seven children, five of whom were sons who usually had girls running after them instead of them running after those girls, which was clearly contrasting the old notion at that time where men were supposed to initiate the first moves. Haha.. O well, seeing those pictures, I couldn’t deny that my pop and uncles were handsome. =P Other than that, maybe they had their own captivating charms, didn’t they?
Whereas the other two daughters, they also had guys running after them. haha.. well, it’s kinda unfair how the pleasure was always theirs to have, but that’s just how it worked those days, and I was quite much imparted by the histories of how my aunts and uncles met and married their husbands and wives. Each story of each aunt and uncle was funny in its way. And my mom and pop’s was one of the kind. Haha..
Well then, having witnessed how people actually evolve, it’s distinctively different seeing those in pictures on the right side of maximum thirty and the real ones on my side who had actually gone through all those things captured in the pictures who are now at least half a century. I couldn’t help but wonder, what were they thinking, how does it feel when they occasionally reminisce, and will it be the same way my nephews and nieces see me as the way I retrospectively see my uncles and aunts now?
