I just watched Saving Private Ryan. And yep, after 9 years and for the first time. Call me outdated or anything but what the hey, I’ve watched it! Though the movie’s from 1998, which means a long long time ago, somehow it seems that it lingers around a lot this couple of weeks. Well, at least I think so.
Initially, I read about it from a book which slightly mentioned about it for actually no reason and I don’t even know why, and then just three or five days ago, I turned on the TV, not much on a purpose, and I saw the movie playing for about halfway where I remembered well tom hanks said, “when was the last time you felt good about anything?” and then I hanged on for another couple of minutes, not very interested, I turned it off. Then just two days ago while I was at a DVD shop, I found the DVDs hanging on the oldie shelf tho they’re not there before when I went to the shop. I actually regretted it on the day that I saw it on TV for not continue watching cos I was pretty sure it’s hard to find the DVD now. And then I thought to myself that it’s like a three timing coincidence, and I felt like being arranged to watch it, not to mention it’s a 5 Oscar-winning movie and all, which made me assume that it’s a must-watch or whatsoever. So I bought it.
So here it goes. For one, it’s brutal. The battle on the Omaha beach was actually pukey, cos there was this one guy who was shot down and screaming for help while his stomach was torn apart and most of his innards were literally lying on the sand. EW! The movie’s good though. I mean, it’s a sad movie, tragic and all, but not the kind that makes you weep. It’s more to contemplate.
Currently like Maroon5’s won’t go home without you very much.
